Additional Information:
Prof. Krein joined the University of Illinois faculty in 1987. He was in industry prior to that time.
He introduced the modern power electronics curriculum, and developed classroom and laboratory courses. For ten years he was a Faculty Advisor to the University's Advanced Electric Vehicle Program, and has worked with large student teams on hybrid and solar cars.
From 1997-98, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.
He is a Past President of the IEEE Power Electronics Society and was IEEE Division II Director in 2003-2004.  He serves as the Editor of the new IEEE Power Electronics Letters publication, introduced in 2003.  He served as the Long-Range Planning Chair for the international Future Energy Challenge student competition, and is now a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Power Electronics Society.
