- Additional Information:
- Prof. Krein joined the University of Illinois faculty in 1987. He was in
industry prior to that time.
- He introduced the modern power electronics curriculum, and developed
classroom and laboratory courses. For ten years he was a
Faculty Advisor to the University's Advanced Electric Vehicle Program,
and has worked with large student teams on hybrid and solar cars.
- From 1997-98, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Surrey in
the United Kingdom.
- He is a Past President of the IEEE Power
Electronics Society and was IEEE Division II Director in 2003-2004. He serves as the Editor of the new IEEE Power
Electronics Letters publication, introduced in 2003. He served as the
Long-Range Planning Chair for the international Future
Energy Challenge student competition, and is now a Distinguished
Lecturer for the IEEE Power Electronics Society.
