We expect pleasant weather for the workshop. High temperatures are expected to be under 80 F, and night-time lows show be in the low 60s. Rain is not likely until about Wednesday.
A reminder that the conference venue is the University of Illinois Coordinated Science Laboratory (CSL), 1308 W Main St, Urbana. This building is on the east side of the North Engineering Quad on campus. Enter through the main front doors on the west side.
Both the Hampton Inn and the Hawthorn Suites (and many other area hotels) offer airport shuttle service. Look for the courtesy phones near baggage claim. If you are staying at the Illini Union, a taxi or city bus provide options. Rental cars are also available.
Attendees staying at the Hampton Inn will find that CSL is a short walk away. Proceed west to Mathews St., then south to Clark St. CSL is then the second brick building ahead and to your right -- follow the sidewalk west toward the quadrangle and the front of the building.
Attendees staying at the Hawthorn Suites should look for our COMPEL'04 shuttle vans in the morning before the first session. The front desk will have a copy of the schedule. If you miss the shuttles, ask at the desk about transportation to campus.
Attendees staying at the Illini Union should walk north along the Engineering Quad. Then cross Springfield Ave. north of the Grainger Library. After that, CSL is the third building on the right.
Parking is open on Sunday in most campus and city lots -- be sure to check signs. We may have a small number of reserved spaces on Monday through Wednesday. Metered parking will be available on the streets and in the new campus parking garage..
Sessions are in the main auditorium on the ground floor, room B02 CSL. This includes the tutorials and the Monday evening session. The demonstration session on Wednesday will be held in room 50, ground floor northwest, Everitt Laboratory (the electrical and computer engineering building). Everitt is north across the street from the Illini Union.
The Sunday reception is 7pm-10pm in rooms 314 A&B of the Illini Union, within walking distance south of CSL.
The Tuesday Banquet is at the Grainger Library, a short walk south of CSL.
All attendees will find that the workshop is providing continental breakfast each day and coffee breaks. Lunch will be provided Wednesday. The reception on Sunday evening will be well-stocked with food. For the Monday evening session, drinks and snacks will be provided.
Attendees who paid the full registration charge or purchased a separate ticket may attend the banquet on Tuesday from 6pm-9pm. If you are a full registrant but do not plan to attend, you are encouraged to return your ticket to the registration desk so it can be donated to a student attendee.
All attendees will receive a preprint book on Monday. Tutorial handouts should be available Sunday. COMPEL prepares formal proceedings after the conference, so these are shipped later. Be sure the registration desk has you complete address.
