Hotel conference shuttle

Thanks to a set of volunteers, we will be providing van service between the Hawthorne Suites and the Coordinated Science Laboratory.  Trips begin in the morning at 7:20am and will continue through about 8:20am.  We will also be able to return you after the sessions and pick you up for the evening session and the banquet.  Look for COMPEL'04 signs on our two campus vans.

Travel and ground transportation

IEEE COMPEL'04 will be held on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Illlinois, USA.

Air travel:  The area has full-service commercial air travel through the University of Illinois Willard Airport, Champaign (CMI).  Multiple daily flights are provided by American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Delta Airlines via hubs in Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, and Cincinnati.  The airport has additional service from taxis, all major rental car firms, and also has hourly city bus service to the campus during the day.

Both the Hampton Inn and the Hawthorne Suites have free airport shuttle service.  Call from courtesy phones in the baggage claim area.

Rail travel:  Amtrak service is available along the City of New Orleans route and additional trains from Chicago to the station in downtown Champaign.

Road travel:  Champaign-Urbana is served by three interstate highways:  I-57 (linking to Chicago and Memphis), I-74 (linking to Indianapolis and Iowa), and I-72 (linking to Springfield, IL).  The city is situated approximately equally distant from Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis -- about 2 1/2 hours drive from each.

Accommodations

Rooms blocks have been arranged at the Hawthorne Suites, 101 Trade Center Drive, Champaign, +1 (217) 398-3400 and at the Hampton Inn, 1200 W University Ave, Urbana, +1 (217) 337-1100.  The room blocks expire August 1, although to our knowledge rooms will very likely be available later.

Conference Location

Most conference events will be held in the main auditorium, room B02, in the Coordinated Science Laboratory on the University campus.  CSL is approximately two blocks southwest of the Hampton Inn.  Campus maps can be located at http://www.uiuc.edu/ricker/CampusMap.
